Dental Healthcare Insurance, Why is Dental Care so Expensive
Question: I do not understand why dental services need to be so expensive. I just got back from my dentist yesterday and was told that I would need two root canals. I would also need to have the two teeth crowned as well.
I am lucky that at least I have dental insurance with my job. However even with that my cost is going to be almost $2000. I just feel this is highway robbery. It is costs like these that keep the middle class families from ever getting ahead.
Reply: Although $2000.00 may seem expensive even with insurance it is not for two root canals and crowns. If you shop out your rates to dentist stating you do not have insurance you will be able to see the going cost and just how much your dental insurance is saving you.
If you just saying cost in general is too high and why is that. I have no real answer for you. Cost for most things in life continues to go up. I can say if you want to keep your cost low, you need maintain your oral and dental health so that you do not have larger more costly dental care needs. Sure, larger dental care services can happen even with great at home dental care habits but you do reduce your risk greatly.
But it dose not stop with just good at home dental habits. You need to make and keep your twice a year (more if advised by your dentist) dental appointments. In addition, with most dental insurance plans preventive services such as check ups, x-rays and cleaning are little to no cost.
